25/01 - A day at the beach

Slept until 9am, pretty much 12h sleep, that was much needed! We had breakfast and D. went back to the supermarket while I started the sandwiches. Before leaving we booked Greyhound bus tickets and YHA in Yamba for tomorrow. We went back to the shop because D. had misplaced his sunnies... Luckily we found them again! (they were on thop of the glasses rack).

We decided to go and see the beach on the otehr side of the "river". We walked under the beating sun once again and stopped on the other side of the river. It seemed to be THE place where people swim. We sat under the shade for a while (D. wrote and I was journaling). The current in the water is stronf, the tide is going down. I people-watch (and dogs too)!

We moved to a picnic table (covered). D. went for a swim, I journaled some more. We ate lunch and then it was my turn to go in the water, I played in the current, it was SO strong! We decidedto go on the "real" beach. D. took a video of me in the current.

Once on the othe side of the sanddune: beach and ocean, the waves were really strong along with the current. There are barely anyone on the beach or the water and the lifeguard safeswim area is just nearby. So we decided to go swimming again, this time together (hoping that our stuff would be safe here). The current is STRONG and the waves hard! I lost my swimsuit a few times...

After that, we walked to the middle of the beach where we could find showers and kept going to reach the other side of the beach which was full of surfers.

 

We watched them for a while from the beach and then decided to sit on the hill. Impressive! I managed to get a few nice shots! I even managed to get one of the dolphin who came to had fun with the surfers!!

Back on the beach it was even more impressive (you could really see the height of the waves!).We walked back all the way to the hostel. The river was nearly empty but the current still strong.

We ate leftovers and at 7.30pm we watched a movie in the TV room The Avengers - Age of Ultron. I had some popcorn and tried to update the blog (but internet was not great...). We packed out bags and were in bed around 10pm. Early morning tomorrow....

 Walked 6 km today.
