Bad night... it was too hot and the old guy was snoring so badly... But the worst was that the 2 German guys are the ones who woke my up trying to wake up the old guy.... Anyway, this is hostel life for you... I managed to fell back asleep a little while later.
D. woke me up again around 9am. Showers and finish packing our bags, had breakfast and checked out at 10am on the dot. We left our big bags in the hostel storage room for 2 nights for when we come back, then we left for the Blue Mountains. Bus to Central station and then train to Katoomba. It took us around 2 hours by train.
Around 2pm we arrived at No14 Hostel. It is a really nice place, no-one was there but our name was on the board with the number of the room, we settled in our room (it is SO SO hot!!!), had lunch (yesterday's leftover, brought in our new lunchbox!) and decided to go and see the town's main attraction: the Three Sisters (a rock formation) from Echo Point.
It took us 40 minutes in a hilly town (up and down...), we arrived at Echo Point, took a few pictures and decided to do the walk on the edge of the cliffs all the way to Katoomba Waterfalls. The views were stunning.
The mountains got their name from the blue haze they create. We walked all the way to Scenic World and headed back to town but by the road this time (shorter way). Only drawback: we had to climb some hills...
Once we arrived in the town center, we looked for a place to eat and chose "The Yeli Deli". It is a really cosy cafe, with lovely wodden tables. The have only handmade and organic food (aka for sandwiches they make their own breads), and most of the products come from their farms. It felt like some kind of Hippy/Amish community. We ate 2 really good "hot sandwiches" and lovely deserts too. We also bought some kind of green energy bar (made of kale, brocoli...carobs - chocolate substitute...).
Once home, I updated the blog, we met the owner (a lovely pregnant lady) and an old couple cycling around Australia for the last 14 months. The owner is the one who did the painting on the walls around the hostel. She gave us info on the area and suggested different walks for tomorrow.
Around 8pm it started to rain, did not stop when we went to bed (around 10pm), and was still raining when I fell asleep.
