Photo a day - 22/04/17

* Took our time this morning, had another chat with the Swiss, changed the band-aid on my foot (looks not too bad!)
* Videoed Damien folding the tent.
* Left for the Cliff trail below Kalbarri.
* Stopped at Jacks Point to look at the surfers, big waves but not much action. Updated photo a day in between waves.
* Did part of Bigurda trail from Eagle Gorge but not too much as it is sand and small rocks (not ideal for my foot), the scenery does not change much and too many flies around.
* Had a look at Eagle Gorge Lookout then drove to Natural Bridge. Had lunch under a shaded area but flies still unbelievable... Did the broadwalk, sat and looked at the ocean and the waves crashing against the cliffs.
* Went to the other 2 lookouts before definitely leaving the area. Drove to Geraldton, got some petrol and kept going.
* Found a rest area by the ocean, arrived right in time for the sunset. Ate the remaining of our pasta, olive oil and grated parmesan.
* Built the tent a bit away from the car, on sand, right in front of the ocean :) great way to spend our last night!

Photo a day - 21/04/17

* Tried to be up early but not as early as we wanted. On the road before 8am.
* Arrived at Kalbarri National Park and its first 2 lookouts around 9pm. View is good at the 1st one, the second one is pretty crap.
* Drove to The Loop, had breakfast in the carpark and started the 8km walk by 10.30. Were slow at 1st (getting use to be careful walking with my injured toe) but managed to do the whole walk in 3h! (suggested between 3 and 5).
* The Loop passes by Nature's Window (a hole in a rock - making a window shape), then you walk on the rim of a gorge for 3kms, go down in the gorge and walk along the Murchison River (rocks and sandy bank), you have to climb a bit at some places. No shade.
* After finishing The Loop we had lunch at the shaded picnic tables (sandwiches), then headed to another walk called Z-Bend (from the shape of the river).
* Went to the lookout together, but only Damien did the whole walk to the gorge. Waited for him back at the car with a book. Damien went a bit in the water, I took a nap.
* Drove to Kalbarri village to find a campsite for the night. Found space at the ranch (they have beautiful horses).
* Had showers and dinner. Talked a long while with French-speaking Swiss. Very interesting people.
* Went to bed quite late. It is our last night in a campsite.

* Got up around 7am. Tidied the tent and headed to the beach for our 2nd and last dolphin feeding.
* Did not get picked, that is life (a shame though!) Went back and had breakfast.
* Went for a long walk before leaving for Kalbarri.
* Got injured miles away from the campsite. A lot of blood (but no sharks).Took us a while to go back but luckily a family offered us to drop us with their small boat: lifesavers!
* Try to clean it, had a shower, reception of campsite useless left for Denham.
* Caught the pharmacist just before he left, was a big help, told us what to do.
* Had lunch on the sea front, then re-opened the wound to get it completely clean...
* Got rewarded with ice-cream!
* Stopped at Eagle Bluff lookout and spotted a ray
* Stopped at Shell Beach and got to walk on a beach made of billions of shells.
* Back on the road for Kalbarri, it is really late... 4.30pm
* Did not managed to go as far as we wanted but still drove a good distance. Rest area is busy but we easily found a place for the tent.
* Prepared the tent while Damien started dinner (crêpes)
* watched the stars for a while, then watched at all our photos on Damien's phone (re-lived all NZ and some of Australia) at some point moved to the tent and I fell asleep.

* Hard time to get up this morning. Breakfast and on the road to Monkey Mia by 8.30am.
* Reached Carnavon and did some groceries.
* Ate at a lookout in the middle of nowhere
* Had a look at Hamelin Pool and the Stroglodite: microns that look like rocks (as old as dinosaurs).
* 4.30pm, arrived at D. and the Visitor Centre told us that the camping at Monkey Mia still had space available.
* Build our tent and went for a sunset walk on the beach.
* Saw dolphins, loads of then and so close to the shore! One of them was really friendly and got a dolfy with it (dolphin-selfy)!
* Had dinner and met a French guy that we had meet back in Lucky Bay, spoke with him and his friend all evening about places to go and see around OZ also talked about previous travels mainly India.
* Late bedtime, it is cold tonight.

Photo a day - 14/04/17

* Did not managed to get up early like we wanted...
* Left campsite after 8am but had to come back (forgot water!), real departure 8.30am.
* Drove all the way to Yardie Gorge. Did the nature walk and walking trail. Saw some Osprey nests and rock wallabies.
* Drove to Oyster Stacks and went snorkeling. Saw a lot of fish.
* Drove to Turquoise Bay, had lunch in the car (leftovers). 2 snorkeling options: drift and lagoon. We did both.
* Drift snorkeling: saw 2 rays and numerous fish + jellyfish (got another blister at one of my toe from the fins - same foot as yesterday & a sting from one of the red jellyfish - ouch)
* Lagoon snorkeling: more fish, jellyfish and a green turtle!
* Took some sand and a few shells + dead coral (but shsh).
* Rushed back to the campsite before they closed, got our new emplacement & gave back the snorkeling equipment.
* Damien cooked dinner while I showered (took me ages to get my hair back...)
* While dinning, checked the underwater photos and videos (there are some good ones!)
* Played card while updating email + instagram (photo a day)
* Teeth, Damien shower + shave and bed!

Photo a day - 11/04/17

* Awake before the sunrise a 6.30 but Damien got up around 8am.
* After breakfast we headed to Knox Gorge (after Joffre Falls on a 7kms unsealed road).
* Did the walk before the lookout to avoid families. We wore shoes this morning and that was a good call, the descent is steep.
* Amazing gorge, really beautiful with a lot of pools, a winding path, a bit of climbing. It finishes the gorge gets really tight like a chasm and I think it is from there that the "adventure tours" do the abseiling and stuff.
* Once back up we had a look at the lookout, could see some of the way but not the end.
* Drove to Joffre Falls. Prepared lunch to take with us: Julienne of veg thanks to Damien's new toy (a Julienne peeler that we have been looking for a long time).
* Started the walk around 12pm. Went down pretty easily (wearing flipflops) and quite fast. Once in the Gorge we went to the waterfall 1st for a swim. Pretty, but more&more in the shade.
* After lunch, we went on the otherside of the gorge that everyone recommended. Quite a long swim, get to an "island", cross it (say hi to a big lizard) and have a look at the other waterfall and the remaining of the gorge that goes deeper and deeper and to finish go all the way back!
* Dried a bit and went back up towards the car as it was too cold in the shade. Got changed and headed to Tom Price for Petrol.
* The only sealed road to Exmouth is taking us on a long detour south... + our chosen night spot is closed so we found another truck area...

Photo a day - 10/04/17

* Had a hard time to get up, I was ready to have a second night!
* After a late breakfast we went to 2 lookouts of the gorge and pool then headed down.
* Managed the whole walk to Circular Pool in flipflops. Damien had a swim in the freezing cold water. Left as the place got crowded really quickly.
* 1h drive from Dale day area to Joffre Falls. Podcast for Damien and unplanned nap for me...
* Joffre lookout and falls were stunning and the view of the pool really made us want to go (maybe tonight or before leaving the National Park).
* Drove on unsealed road to reach the campground. There they told us that it is fully booked for a week along with the adventure tour in the gorge that we wanted to do -> result of the school holidays...
* More unsealed road to reach Weano day area, I am the one driving this time. Took is 30min to reach.
* Had lunch at Weano area and went to 2 lookouts.
* Stunning gorge! Quite an adventure to access the various highlights but really fun and different! Highlights: Amphitheater, Spider Way and Kermits Pool.
* It was easier to go back as we knew the way and obstacles. From the car, took us 1h to reach our night spot.
* Tonight's dinner: satay noodle + spicy omelette/frittata with a lot of good things in it. (took 1h but was good!)
* Trains can take 5 mins to pass the crossing! (we slept by a railway crossing and decided to count).

Photo a day - 09/04/17

* Got up quite early but compared to our neighbours apparently not early enough.
* Were on the road before 8.15am to Port Headland.
* Went food shopping in Coles and did a petrol stop.
* On our way to Karijini National Park. Had an early lunch on the road.
* So many road trains on the road (long trucks - 3 to 4 trailers). Overtaking them is not relaxing!
* Arrived at Karijini Visitor Centre around 3pm. Got some info and went to Dale campsite. Were given a spot with not much shade...
* Went for a swim at Fortescue and Fern Falls, perfect end of afternoon activity after a day in the car.
* Wraps for dinner: mustard, beef, spinas and brie.
* Played card and then tent (Damien listened to a podcast, I journaled and read).

* up eatly and on the road before 9am, heading to Broome (around 100kms).
* spent some time at the visitor centre, using internet + booking a tour for tomorrow.
* went food shopping and checked in the YHA, we are treating ourselves to a private room!
* lunch, nap, washes, internet a bit
* went to Cable Beach for sunset. But with our luck, we did not really had one (too many clouds).

Photo a day - 04/04/17

* Woke up long before Damien, stayed in bed for a while then got up, got dressed and went for a wander.
* Drove to Lake Argyle, enjoyed the view from 2 lookouts and then drove the dam.
* Went back to Kununurra to exchange our National Park pass for a monthly one.
* Drove all the way to Halls Creek (everything is closed there too or only 4WD). Kept driving to our night spot.
* Tremendous amount of birds along or on the road and more cattle than usual too.
* Lovely campsite, there is a river crossing an old road, went on it for sunset pics and saw strange birds and a freshie! (fresh water crocodile).
* Pasta and parmesan for dinner then bed.

Photo a day - 03/04/17

* Slow morning, got up around 8.30 and left at 9.45 NT time.
* Reached 10 000kms !!! Pretty exciting.
* Passed the boarder NT/WA, gained 1h30 but lost our veg and fruits.
* Arrived at Kununurra, at the info centre Damien got his dreams crushed... Everything in the Kimberley region is still closed (wet season). It was supposed to be the highlight of his trip...
* Offered to do scenic flights but did not take...
* Spent some time in the library (to stay out of the sun - internet was super expensive... so we used our 3G).
* 4.20pm, went to Mirima National Park whig is supposed to be a mini version of Purnululu and walked to the lookout.
* Sunset at 5.30 (not used to that....) Still on the road toward Lake Argyle.
* While crossing a floodway we saw a baby crocodile cross in front of us!
