I forgot how amazing it was to sleep in a double bed!!! We woke up a few times, but every single time it was still raining... D. got up before me (as usual), I got up an hour later around 10.30am. The rain had finally stopped.
We took a bus around 12pm to start our 4h walk around Wentworth Falls. We stopped at Conservation Hut, and got some sandwiches on the go for later and started our walk. From Empress Falls to Wentworth Falls via the National Pass.
It was really windy at first, but the more we climb down the more protected we were. The climb down to Empress Falls had quite impressive views and the trek after is situated in the middle of the cliffs and it was mindblowing!
The sun was playing hide and seek from time to time, which was plesant because it was never too cold nor too hot. The soil was not too wet from the 15hours of non-stop rain, instead it created a lot of new smaller scale waterfalls coming from the edge of the cliff above us (so pretty!).
We had lunch on the path facing the Blue Mountains and the valley. After that we kept going to Wentworth Falls, from there you climb back up (all the way up...). Such a fantastic view!!
We took Darwin Walk all the way back to the station, to avoid the mane road and town (which added another 2.4km). It is following a little river, with yabbies in it (Australian freshwater crustacean), but they are not the only creatures we met!
Once in "town" we did some grocery shopping and took the bus back - same driver as the way in, we had a nice chat, he lived 12 years in London, he even dropped us in front of the hostel! Back at the hostel D. cooked us dinner and we had a lovely chat with the Australian cycling couple. They cycled in a lot of countries and are also cross-country skiers (pleasure/competition level). They have a blog that he updates daily (impressive!).
We talked until late , then showers, teeth, bed and a bit of travel journal. It is already nearly midnight...
